What have I been up to lately?

Since graduating from UNT in June, I have been very fortunate to be keeping active in a variety of musical activities. Among them are a steady stream of private teaching, gigging and writing. Some of my latest writing projects include:

-Three Christmas arrangements for McMath Middle School Beginning Band
-Original composition for McMath Middle School Jazz Band
-Original composition for Katy High School Jazz Band
-“Let it Snow” Big Band Transcription
-Original composition for the UNT Latin Jazz Lab Band

In addition I am having a great time maintaining a solid trumpet studio. I have come to really enjoy teaching and have learned a lot from the experience. My students range from beginner trumpet players to players currently at UNT. I also am really fortunate to be apart of a SUPER funky top 40 group called the “Top Band”. This band is hands down the best group I’ve played with in DFW and keeps a busy schedule of clubs and private events. I also am lucky to be able to freelance in a variety of situations, including a recent gig I did with legendary pop artist, Frankie Vally.

In my spare time, I manage to find time to compose for my own big band and the book has grown to almost 70 charts! We are doing a show on December 13th in the Denton area if you are free.

That’s basically the last four months in a nutshell. Stay tuned for more recordings and charts to be added as time permits.

Later,
